About MSAP

The Malaysian Society for Academic Psychiatry (MSAP) was established in 2022 with the specific goal of making mental health education accessible to all doctors and scaling up mental health services in primary care. Under the committed leadership of Prof. Dato’ Dr Andrew Mohanraj, a consultant psychiatrist with extensive international experience in establishing primary care mental health services in low- and middle-income countries, MSAP is dedicated to its mission.
Having completed a consultancy in mental health and substance abuse with the WHO (Western Pacific Regional Office), he furthered his pursuit of academia by taking up a position as an Academic Professor in at Taylors University Malaysia.
MSAP is fortunate to have other faculty members who are prominent figures in their fields of interest and expertise. Together, we aim to play a vital role in scaling up primary care mental health services in our country and thereby creating a robust, dependable and accessible mental health support system for all Malaysians.
